Biography
Born and raised in the desert of West Texas, designer John Renaud moved to New York City in 2005 in order to attend Pratt Institute, where he majored in fashion design. John got his roots in patternmaking while working for a technical design firm where he had the opportunities to work on projects for such clients as Oscar De La Renta and Chesley Mclaren. He has worked with designer Christian Joy; first as her intern and later her assistant. Under Joy John was given the opportunity to work not only on the Christian Joy line, but on the costumes Joy designed for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Klaxons. Renaud also trained under designer Gary Graham. In 2007 John had the opportunity, through the Arts of Fashion Foundation, to study with Thierry Rondenet and Herve Yvrenogeau, the designers behind the Belgian line Own. In 2008 John Studied under Head of La Cambre Modes, Brussels , Tony Delcampe, and Couture Assistant to Martin Margiela, Laurent Edmond. Upon graduation from Pratt John was awarded top honors including the Alfredo Cabrerra Sportswear award for his thesis collection and the Cotton Inc Eveningwear Award. Surface Magazine also featured Renaud's collection as one of the top thesis projects for 2009. John has created several pieces for electronica star Peaches and her band and has worked with other notable individuals such as comedian/activist Margaret Cho, recording artist Cazwell, nightliife icon and model Amanda Lepore, and the talented performer Cherie Lily. John lives and works in New York City.
